Holy Spirit is our special friend and a gift from God
Before Jesus goes to His Father in heaven, he promises us with a gift – a special friend with us.
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another helper to help you and be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. (John 14:16-17a)
God has a plan for Paul and his children
– God used Paul as a messenger to the Gentiles, bringing Good News to them
– Paul repented and believed in Jesus, the HS came upon him.
– The Holy Spirit has given him everything he needs to obey Jesus’ plan for his plan. The Holy Spirit infused Paul with hope and confidence.
– God has a plan for each of his child
– He has a plan for you and will use you to help others to learn about Jesus
– Holy Spirit is a special friend and a gift from God that would guide you each day!
The Holy Spirit protects us from evil
Paul is arrested in Jerusalem
– Paul is arrested in Jerusalem and the commander wanted to figure out what crime he has committed. He gathered the chief priest Ananias and seventy religious leaders and had Paul to stand before them.
– The Holy Spirit is there to help Paul not to be afraid.
– The high priest Ananias ordered those standing near him to slap him on his month.
– Paul was a born Roman citizen and it was against God law having Paul’s face slapped as punishment when he had not been proven guilty of breaking any laws
– Paul said to the high priest, God will slap you, you corrupt hypocrite! What kind of judge are you to break the law yourself by hitting me?”
– As believers, we represent Christ. Our words and actions should reflect what the Bible teaches.
o Paul remembers God’s word said, “Do not speak evil about the ruler of your people.”
– It was God to put this man in the high priest’s position,
– The Holy Spirit opens our mind to understand what is the right thing to do
It’s so important for believers to read and memorize God’s word to see and remember God is at work and navigating everyday decisions.
– The Holy Spirit reminds us, comforts us and helps us in our everyday life decision
o But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. (John 14:26)
God is our protection
Just like Paul, we know Holy Spirit is with us and we are under God’s protection.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust.”
